Description
The Mokpo Namhang Urban Wetland is the largest remaining relict area of intertidal wetland in the highly modified Yeongsan Estuary, located in Mokpo City, Jeollanam Province. Much of the 50 ha site, divided by Birds Korea into four planning units (P1-4) is highly modified (including P2 and P3, two areas impounded by seawalls). However, it still has multiple values, including for biodiversity (especially birds - with five globally threatened species and six National Natural Monuments recorded to date), for environmental education and for recreation.
